Madison,
WI, April 4, 2007 -
For the fourth year,
TrafficCast International, Inc.,
the leader in traffic data
aggregation and analysis, will
supply comprehensive real-time
traffic data to GeoDecisions,
the geospatial solutions
division of Gannet Fleming Inc.,
to support essential logistics
planning operations of the US
Military and Homeland Security.
To
effectively manage resource
deployment, both for emergency
response as well as conventional
assignments, the US Military
Surface Deployment and
Distribution Command
Transportation Engineering
Agency (US-TEA) employs a
web-based portal to worldwide
logistics and infrastructure
information.
This Intelligent Road
& Railroad Information
Server, called IRRIS, leverages
the latest advances in
location-based services and
geographic information systems
to provide the real-time
information necessary for
enhanced logistics
decision-making.
In
the continental US, TrafficCast
data is the essential component
for timely and relevant
information about road
conditions, construction and
local incidents to facilitate
deployment of assets and
personnel.
Such situational
awareness not only assists
typical freight and convoy
movements, but also enables more
efficient operations in times of
crisis. For example, in its response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita
in 2005, the US Army used IRRIS
extensively, including
TrafficCast data to track the
widespread road closures and
necessary detours.
ˇ°We are pleased to renew our contract with TrafficCast to
supply traffic data to the IRRIS
portal,ˇ± said Jonathan
Pollack, Vice President of
GeoDecisions,
ˇ°Data from TrafficCast has
proven its value under
challenging conditions, and we
look forward to continuing to
expand its application.ˇ±
ˇ°Our
work with GeoDecisions and the
US-TEA is highly gratifying,ˇ±
said Connie Li, CEO of
TrafficCast.
ˇ°Their requirements are
technically challenging but the
objectives of effective resource
deployment are essential for
efficient military operations.
We are proud to be on the
team.ˇ±
