Madison,
WI, Feb. 28, 2007 - Dynaflow™,
real-time estimates of road speeds
for major roadways, has been shown
to provide accurate and reliable
travel time projections for both
sensored and non-sensored
roadways.
TrafficCast International,
Inc. the leader in real-time
traffic data aggregation and
analysis, made the announcement
following rigorous third-party
validations of its beta release
for various markets.
Announced
in January, Dynaflow employs
patented technology to dynamically
model traffic flow in real-time,
integrating detailed historical
data for virtually all Class I,
II, and III roads with a range of
real-time data inputs from public
and private sources.
The resulting flow data
enables ¡°red-yellow-green¡±
advisories as well as detailed
link-by-link speed estimates for
virtually all major roads in the
US.
Such functionality, which
has been historically limited to
where roadside sensors are
deployed, is critical to the
emerging national market for
interactive navigation services.
As
an example, San Francisco was
chosen as one of the markets for
independent third-party validation
and evaluation because of its
diverse commuting base, natural
congestion bottlenecks where
traffic conditions can change
dynamically and the availability
of baseline flow data from the
installed Caltrans sensors.
Collaborating
with researchers at leading
institutions, including the
University of California-Berkeley
and the University of
Wisconsin-Madison, TrafficCast
International demonstrated that
overall Dynaflow speed estimate
accuracy is over 80%-85% at
confidence level of 80%.
For Class I roadways such
as the Bay Area interstates and
Highway 101 between San Jose and
San Francisco, accuracy is even
higher, and highest of all on
roads with installed sensors where
historical data is especially
deep.
¡°The
scientific approach for Dynaflow
verification and validation in
these studies are sound and
solid,¡± said Dr. Jeff Ban, a
researcher of UC-Berkeley.
¡°Dynaflow shows the capacity to
provide travelers with reliable
travel time and speed information
on mobile devices.¡±
On
a regular basis, TrafficCast
International will continue to
validate its Dynaflow models as
Dynaflow is introduced into the
market in a nationwide rollout by
Q2, 2007.
¡°We
see Dynaflow as ¡®mission
critical¡¯ to our core
markets,¡± said Connie Li,
President/CEO of TrafficCast
International.
¡°Our expertise in traffic
data analysis, traffic modeling
and more than 10 years of
historical traffic data archives
uniquely position us to offer a
seamless data feed of real-time
and predictive road speeds across
navigation map data links.¡±
