Board Members
Sona Wang
Chairman
Managing Director, Ceres Venture Fund L.P.
Ms.
Sona Wang possesses over 20 years of institutional venture investment
experience. Since 1987, she has raised three Chicago-based venture
capital funds totaling over $100 million under management:
Batterson, Johnson & Wang, INROADS Capital Partners,
and CERES Venture Fund LP. Previously, she was an investment manager with Allstate Venture Capital,
one of the oldest institutional venture funds with over $400
million invested. Her investment focus has been in
information technology, business services, and healthcare. She has served on numerous corporate
boards including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois,
Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, High Tower Software, TrafficCast International,
SuccessLab Inc., Ultimo Enterprises, and IKOS Systems.
Prior to her career in venture capital, Ms. Wang was employed with
Intel Corporation in key management positions in engineering, manufacturing
and marketing. Ms. Wang graduated from Stanford University with a B.S.
in Industrial Engineering (1980) and received an M.B.A.,
magna cum laude, from Northwestern University¡¯s Kellogg Graduate School of
Management. She currently serves on Northwestern University¡¯s Board of
Trustees.
Bin Ran
PhD, Co-founder
Dr. Ran also provides strategic consulting
services to the Company. Dr. Ran is a full
Professor and the Director of the Traffic Lab at
the University of Wisconsin at Madison . Dr. Ran
is an expert in dynamic transportation network
models and traffic simulation and control, and has
led the development and deployment of various
information systems and technologies,
Internet/Intranet and web-based geographical
information systems. Dr. Ran is the author of two
leading textbooks on dynamic traffic networks. He
has published 51 papers in refereed journals, and
has presented 83-refereed papers at national and
international conferences. Earlier in his career,
Dr. Ran held positions at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology and University of
California at Berkeley . He is active in the
Transportation Research Board (TRB) and
Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS
America ).
Connie Li
PhD, PE, Co-founder, President & CEO
Dr. Li is a co-author of one of the leading
traffic flow texts. She founded and was the CEO
for a successful and profitable traffic and
transportation consulting business, TranSmart
Technologies, for several years before founding
TrafficCast, Inc. and TrafficCast International,
Inc. Dr. Li received her PhD in Transportation
Engineering from the University of Illinois at
Chicago, her MS in Transportation Engineering from
the University of Tokyo, Japan, and her BS in
Civil Engineering from Tsinghua University, China.
She is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in
Wisconsin , Minnesota , Illinois and Arizona .
Terry Kelly
Mr. Kelly is the President and Principal Owner of
Weather Central, Inc. He is also the Chairman and
CEO of MyWeather, LLC. A leader in the development
of innovative weather display and forecasting
equipment, software and services for over 30
years, Mr. Kelly holds a degree in meteorology
from the University of Wisconsin at Madison , The
American Meteorological Society's Seal of Approval
, and the AMS award for Outstanding Service By A
Broadcast Meteorologist . He has founded several
other successful technology companies, including
ColorGraphics System, Inc., and New Star. He also
managed the Dynatech Video Group of companies from
1983 through 1993. Mr. Kelly has been an owner of
radio and television stations, and he was named
¡°Entrepreneur of the Year¡± in Wisconsin by
Ernst & Young in 2003. He also served as the
Chairman and CFO of Air America Radio.
Paul Schneider
Mr.
Paul Schneider is a Director for Schneider
National. He is responsible for new business
development and pricing of over $3.5 billion in
annual revenue with Schneider¡¯s global client
base.
He
re-joined the family business in September of 1998
as a supply chain engineer.
From 1999-2003, he spearheaded
Schneider¡¯s e-commerce efforts, served as
Director of Research and General Manager at
Schneider Logistics. He successfully launched a
new internet-based procurement product called
BidSmart. In 2003, he led Schneider National¡¯s
Midwest driver operations. Prior to this, he was a
financial analyst for Morgan Stanley & Co.¡¯s
investment banking division. Mr. Schneider serves
on the Board of Directors of Schneider National,
Inc. and Family Services of Wisconsin.
Mr.
Schneider received a bachelor's degree in
economics from Northwestern University, Evanston,
Ill. He
earned a master¡¯s of science degree in
information systems from the University of
Wisconsin.
Board Observers
Joseph P. Hildebrandt
Mr. Hildebrandt is a Partner at Foley &
Lardner, LLP, was founder and chair of the Emerging Companies/Venture Capital Team and is a member of the firm's Private Equity & Venture Capital (which he founded and co-chaired), Transactional & Securities, and Emerging Technologies Practices. He has represented clients in over 350 private placement offerings. Outside of his legal practice, Joe has personally invested in over 50 private companies, has been a vice president of a small investment brokerage firm, manager or co-manager of several small venture capital funds or partnerships, and active in the venture capital community for over 30 years.
Joe has served by appointment on several Wisconsin Securities Commissioner's committees and as chairman of the Wisconsin Secretary of State Improvement Committee and has participated in drafting Wisconsin legislation for partnership, corporation,
LLC, tax credit and securities laws. He was co-organizer of the Governor's Summit on Venture Capital, co-organizer and president of the Wisconsin World Trade Center-Madison, Inc., and co-organizer, officer and director of Downtown Madison Partners, Inc., and The Boys and Girls Club of Dane County, Inc. He was awarded the national Lynford Lardner Community Service Award, the Madison Catholic Women's Club Christian Achievement Award, and the Madison Community Foundation Individual Excellence Award. Included in Who's Who in American Law, he has received the highest performance rating in the Martindale-Hubbell national directory of attorneys and was selected to be listed in The Best Lawyers in America® for the last 10 years. He earned a BS in Finance, Investment and Banking, and his MBA from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He received his JD degree from Harvard Law School.
Barbara Boxer
Ms. Boxer is a Managing Director of Women Angels of Milwaukee and Florida and General Counsel and Director of Governmental Affairs of PDM Bridge. She was the chair of the Government Relations Department at Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c. She has substantial political experience at the local, state and national levels and her clients include Fortune 500 companies, commercial developers, municipalities and a wide range of nonprofit organizations. She served on the steering committee for Wisconsin Women's Prosperity under Lieutenant Governor Lawton. She sits on the boards of numerous local nonprofit organizations including the Medical College of Wisconsin, YMCA, Jewish Home Foundation and Westside Healthcare Association. She earned a Master degree in Public Administration and a law degree from Marquette University. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Wisconsin State Bar and the Milwaukee Bar Association. In addition, she is a member of the Association for Women Lawyers and the Association of Wisconsin Lobbyists.
